Seattle Tilth’s Farm to Table preschool program works with low-income preschools to provide hands-on cooking and nutrition education to children, teachers/staff, and parents. Students increase reverence for their food and health by preparing and eating foods in a fun and delicious way. We’re excited to kick off the school year with an orientation for people who want to volunteer more regularly with us this year!
When: Tuesday, Oct 4th from 6-8:30pm
Where: Good Shepherd Center (4649 Sunnyside Ave N)
This interactive workshop will familiarize you with what farm-to-table events look like and what your role will be, give you tips for cooking with children, explore the messages we send about nutrition, and delve into concepts around food culture.
Note that we have limited space and will prioritize people who can commit to volunteering several times in the upcoming months. The events typically take place on weekday mornings and afternoons. Volunteers help to prepare, facilitate, and clean up kid-friendly cooking activities and present simple nutritional messages in nonjudgmental ways. We also have a few shifts available before the orientation at http://www.seattletilth.org/get-involved/volunteer/kitchen/farm-to-table.
