Opportunity Title: Sound Steps Program Assistant

Opportunity Description: Sound Steps is a community-based and volunteer-driven walking program for adults over age 50. Programs include city-wide, weekly walks, monthly hikes, a spring training program, and various special events. The program assistant will gain experience in recreation program planning, partnership development, and will engage with program participants on a regular basis.

Start Date: October 10, 2015

End Date: December 10, 2015

Time Commitment (hours per week; total hours needed; other scheduling requirements): 3-6 hours per week. Some Saturdays for ~ 1 hour. Shifts are flexible and the Coordinator will work with the intern to create a schedule that fits. Mornings preferred.

Transportation Requirements (own to work required, own during work, agency vehicle provided, etc.): Personal vehicle not required, but position will require working in various locations—usually in the north end. Some Saturdays at Northgate Mall.

Compensation (pay, housing, travel reimbursement): This is an unpaid position

Duties & Responsibilities: The intern will work under the supervision of the Sound Steps Program Coordinator and assist with the following program elements: walk route development and walk leading, data entry, collection of photo and other media for marketing purposes, social media management, and special event planning. The intern should have a desire to work with active older adults.

Desired Skills: Ability to work under loose supervision; some independent work. CPR/First Aid certified. Photo/video editing experience, proficiency with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Publisher).
